After a couple months of sitting on the fence, Mission Street mogul Gus Murad has finally confirmed that Medjool and the Elements hostel that holds up it's roof deck restaurant are all on the market for a cool $7.25 million. You'll remember back in January, Murad claimed he was just trying to get a sense of what the building would get on the open market and it doesn't sound like there's a huge change here - Murad's spokesman mentioned there's no immediate need to unload the property. Still, you might also remember Murad unloaded a large portion of his Mission Street empire last month when he sold the Giant Value building to Oyster Development who intend to take over the plans to develop it as condos and retail.
As Grubstreet points out, Medjool is still open indefinitely although we imagine the staff is pretty confused. Meanwhile, the hopeful foodies and cocktailistas at EaterSF would like to gently nudge the folks behind Valencia Street's Beretta in the direction of "the Nordstrom's of restaurants." Either way, it's going to take a truckload of cash just to take it off of Murad's hands and if he's not in a rush to sell, the price will probably remain firm. That is, unless things start getting pricey as he builds out his planned dining and entertainment complex in the New Mission Theater next door.
