Thankfully not an April Fool's joke, because we love all things that allow us to exercise our indomitable sense of childlike wonder: a group of like-minded citizens have organized a community-supported traveling inflatable bouncy castle which will be making pit stops around various neighborhoods and generally spreading whimsy today. At noon (like right now!) the inflatable fun will be in the Financial District for your lunch break (someone please snap a photo of a suited and sweaty bouncing Foreign Exchange trader) and at 1 PM the castle moves to Dolores Park where it will undoubtedly acquire an odor of sun-ripened tecate. Then it packs up again to move around various parks and office parks for the rest of the day. The whole thing sounds kind of impromptu, so who knows if they'll stick to it, but here's the castle's schedule below:
12 PM Financial District, supported by SFPD
1PM Dolores Park, supported by the Mission
2:30PM - South San Francisco, someone's workplace
3PM Washington Square Park, supported by our president
4PM Golden Gate Park, supported by the buffalo
5PM South Park, supported by Grant, South Field
5:45ish Panhandle, supported by Wigg Party
7PM Civic Center, supported by Bike Party
Locations for each half-hour jumping session are determined by sliding scale donations, so if you'd like to bring the castle to your neighborhood check the facebook event page - as of this writing there were still open slots for Saturday. Now go forth an seek airtime.
UPDATE: One of the organizers dropped us a line to mention there's a possible stop on First Street at 4 PM instead of Washington Square Park. Has anybody actually gotten in a bounce yet?
