Well know for his hooks, as well as his collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Eminem, Long Beach-born rapper Nate Dogg (nee Nathaniel Dwayne Hale) is dead at 41. Dogg died on Tuesday, March 15, in Long Beach, California. While the official reason for his death has yet to be made public, he suffered a stroke and heart attack in 2007.
Insofar as his legacy goes, MTV reports: "Thanks to Nate’s prolific collaborations with other artists, as well as a number of his own solo albums, any acts developing a similar reputation for melodically sung and catchy hip-hop hooks automatically drew comparisons to his golden voiced standard. That means artists like Akon, Drake and T-Pain, amongst many others, all owe Nate Dogg a debt of gratitude."
