Murder / San Leandro: This is sad. A 53-year-old mother, Christel Johnson, was found alive inside a car Friday afternoon with her 8-year-old developmentally and physically disabled daughter, a hose connected to the tailpipe and pumping exhaust into the car. It appeared to be an unsuccessful murder-suicide attempt, and the girl was later pronounced dead at Oakland Children's Hospital. [Chron]
