We had no idea Walnut Creek life could be so brutal: While attending the memorial service last night for their teenage son Matthew Miller, who was killed last weekend while rafting with friend Gavin Powell, 17, in the swollen Walnut Creek waterway.

ABC 7 reports that they "returned home [yesterday evening] to find someone had smashed a window by the front door, and taken several items." Disgusting, right!

This reminds us of the incident in December '09 when burglars decided to raid the house of that Sonoma family who was killed by the speeding teenager in his Mini Cooper, as soon as they heard about the deaths on the news.
