A married couple who disappeared from Riverside County and abandoned their car near Devil's Slide on Route 1 yesterday appear to be connected to a dead body found in a Lombard Street hotel Thursday afternoon. The woman's body, found in a room at the Ramada Inn at 1940 Lombard Street, has not been identified, but signs point to it possibly being that of Colleen Waterman, and her husband Billy Waterman has been identified by police as a person of interest in the case. Billy Waterman remains at large. He is a white 51-year-old man who is 6 feet tall and weighs 160 pounds.

The couple disappeared from their home in Indian Wells and were reported missing Monday, by their daughter. The car was discovered yesterday afternoon on the San Mateo County coast, and it was unclear how the couple had left the area -- on foot or other means. Search and rescue crews have been scouring the area for the Watermans, and had closed Route 1 in both directions for part of yesterday.

We're wondering now if we're looking at a murder-suicide.
