Victim in Monday's Gang-Related Shooting Wasn't a Gang Member

Monday's brazen morning shooting on Mission and 17th Streets was gang-related, according to police; however, the victim wasn't a gang member.

"The victim was on his way to work at about 7:30 a.m. when two suspects drove up to him near the corner of 17th and Mission streets and began throwing gang signs," reports SF Appeal. "The victim, who is not believed to be a gang member, was shot in the back by one of the suspects before the vehicle took off."

San Mateo County residents David Salgado and Giovanni Sandoval, both 19, were arrested and charged with attempted homicide.

The victim is expected to survive.
