Facing a $40 million-plus deficit that, among other things, will likely result in layoffs for city workers, Oakland Mayor Jean Quan took a 25% pay cut. She will rake in a mere $137,000/year, which is around "$46,000 a year less than her immediate predecessor, Ron Dellums," report Matier & Ross.

Former Mayor Jerry Brown, who pulled in a cool $115,00 during his tenure in Oakland, "turned down raises" on a regular basis, unlike Dellums, who "kicked off his term by asking for and getting a $68,000 raise."
