Early this morning, the pro-democracy demonstrators in Egypt were assaulted first by supporters of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak charging them on horses and camels, then by automatic weapon fire.

That's why for Salma Mousallem and Tarek Hosny, two Egyptian graduate students studying at UC Berkeley, the protest at noon today at Sather Gate on campus, which they organized through Facebook, is an urgent matter, and not just another march.
