Just ten days after former Police Chief George Gascon was sworn in as the interim District Attorney, a lawyer at the Public Defenders Office is considering asking him to step aside from the high-profile officer-involved shooting of Randal Dunklin, the man in a wheelchair who stabbed an officer, on January 4.

The public defender cited the fact that Gascon had defended the police officers' actions to the media when he was still police chief, which could be deemed as a conflict of interest in his new role as DA.

Funnily enough, if Gascon is removed from the case, the state attorney general and former DA, Kamala Harris, would step in.
