A statewide Amber alert is in effect for Jose Esteban Rodriguez, 27, who allegedly abducted four-year-old Juliani Cardenas in Stanislaus County at 4:12 p.m. this afternoon and is believed to be driving to San Jose.
Rodriguez, who was reportedly once in a relationship with the boy's mother, is suspected of forcefully taking him from his grandmother's house this afternoon after the boy ran to greet him. The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department says Rodriguez had tried to take Juliani from school earlier in the day but wasn't allowed on campus.
Rodriguez was last seen driving a silver Toyota Corolla with California license plate number 6HBW445 and oversized aluminum wheels. He's described as a 5-foot, 9-inch-tall Latino with black hair and brown eyes, weighing 180 pounds. He was reportedly wearing a white and black shirt, checkered shorts and a beanie.
Juliani is 3-foot, 6-inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes, weighing 40 pounds. He was last seen wearing black Spiderman shoes that light-up, a light-blue fleece-type sweatshirt, a pajama shirt, and black sweatpants.
