Former San Francisco State University student Annette Bening won last night's Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for The Kids Are Alright, where she plays a lesbian mother who digs redheads. Or something like that. We have yet to see it.
Bening received her degree in theatre arts back in the day. After graduating SFSU, she joined San Francisco's prestigious American Conservatory Theater (ACT), the city's non-profit theater company, while studying acting as part of the Advanced Theatre Training Program. (Other notable alumni include Denzel Washington, Benjamin Bratt, Carlos Bernard, Amy Irving, Wynn Harmon, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Belknap, Dileep Rao, Marsha Mason, Danny Glover, Isiah Whitlock, Jr., Tom O'Brien, Anna Deavere Smith, Omar Metwally, Steven W. Bailey, and Anika Noni Rose.) During this time, according to Wikipedia, "she established herself as a formidable acting talent in roles like Shakespeare's Lady Macbeth."
Bening is married to Warren Beatty, Hollywood's ooziest lothario.
