The real cool heads at Bay City News followed up on yesterday's apocalypse scare about the flock of birds that suddenly turned up dead last weekend outside of Geyserville. It turns out it has nothing to do with the world coming to an end.
According to a witness report and a Department of Fish and Game spokesman quoted on the Appeal, the Semi-Truck theory appears correct. Because no traffic violation occurred the (most likely tweaked out) truck driver didn't need to stop. Although the Fish and Game spokesman did say, "I'm surprised he didn't stop because of the amount of bird goo all over the front of his truck."
The birds, by the way, were identified as black starlings - which apparently are not local, but are "a pretty harmful pest" to grapes in the North Bay. So, maybe they were flying drunk?
