Dave Stockwell, forensic supervisor for the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office is the latest witness to testify in the ongoing preliminary hearings for the seven teen boys and men charged with the October 2009 gang rape at a Richmond High Homecoming dance. Stockwell's testimony included the results of his department's DNA testing which produced positive matches for four out of the seven defendants.

According to the Contra Costa Times, the biggest development to come out of Stockwell's findings are multiple samples that connect 43-year-old John Crane (pictured) to the incident. None of the other defendants recall seeing Crane that night, but you'll remember turned himself in later.

These preliminary hearings, again, are to determine if the case has enough evidence to go to trial. Between this, the reports from nurses treating the victim and the sordid accounts the defendants have already detailed to the police, this shouldn't be a tough call. The last witness, lead investigator Lori Curran is expected to take the stand today.
