Salon Decides It's Time to Sell Itself

We ask you this: Has Salon ever made money? We've always wondered. But the company is still kicking lo these many years since the dot.com boom gave it life (remember when they tried to sell subscriptions?), and today they're announcing that they'd, uh, be open being acquired, or being merged with. They're on the market, in other words. They still have some good years ahead of them and their skin isn't so bad. Sure, there's some debt there (they lost $5 million last fiscal year), and they're not spring chickens anymore, but they're not setting their sights too high. Just a nice quiet life, newspapers internet news and coffee in the morning, a back rub now and then. Really, they're a catch. [Chron]
