A pet store in San Jose has rescued more than a thousand rats from the reality show "Hoarders." It seems a child from a home featured on the show about people who have an inability to part with anything brought home a class pet, which turned out to be pregnant. A year and a half later, a literal truckload of the offspring had to be driven to San Jose in an air conditioned tractor trailer. The rats, which are of the "fancy" variety and make fine pets, need to be quarantined for a few weeks but after that you're free to take one home from Andy's Pet Shop in San Jose. [CBS Local]

Full Disclosure: This SFist editor once rescued two rats from a pet store where they would have ultimately met their fate as food for someone's pet snake. Their names were Lunchbox and Timorous, in case you were wondering.
