At 1:14 a.m. last night, Oakland Police and CHP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle headed Westbound on 580 towards San Francisco. The authorities pursued the suspect over the Bay Bridge into the city before he quickly turned around and headed back to Oakland. According to Bay City News on the Appeal, "the CHP vehicle used a 'pursuit interception technique' maneuver to disable the suspect's car in the area of E. 25th Street and Highland Avenue shortly before 2 a.m." Police didn't specify what that maneuver was, but we've seen enough action movies to know they probably just rammed the perp's vehicle into a fruit cart.

As tends to happen in these situations, the driver fled into the surrounding neighborhood leaving his two passengers to immediately surrender. Police found the driver after an hour and a half of searching and have detained the trio while they contact witnesses to the earlier robberies. [BCN/Appeal]
