Giants Catcher and San Francisco's boyfriend Buster Posey was named National League Rookie of the Year this morning after the results of the Baseball Writer's Association of America ballots were released. Posey won 20 out of a possible 32 votes (in a ranked-choice voting system, natch) from the Association, who submitted their ballots before the Giants began their postseason run. Posey won despite spending the first third of the season in the Minors and according to the Chronicle he ends another drought for the Giants: 35 years without a rookie of the year. Posey is the sixth Giant to win, joining such familiar names as Willie Mays and Willie McCovey. [Chron]
