Even though the SF Department of Elections refuses to go beyond the *preliminary* stages of ranked choice vote tallying, Debra Walker and Rafael Mandelman put us out of our misery yesterday by issuing concessions, allowing Jane Kim and Scott Wiener to claim their victories in Districts 6 and 8 respectively.
Walker sent out an email blast yesterday saying, "Just because I am not the District Six supervisor does not mean our ideas were not the right direction. ... So join with me in congratulating our new supervisor, Jane Kim."
Mandelman followed suit saying, "Scott Wiener will be the next supervisor for District Eight (and a very capable and excellent supervisor he will surely be)."
Kudos to both candidates for not letting this drag out any longer, and our congratulations to Jane and Scott. Both candidates, presumably, have begun putting together City Hall staffs.
As for Districts 2 and 10, things remain as they were, with Mark Farrell and Malia Cohen the preliminary winners after ranked choice tallies, but no final word in either race.
