Mission / Shooting: Just after midnight last night, a man was shot three times at the corner of South Van Ness and 26th. Two suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a two-door Pontiac, and police later detained them. They are still being held for questioning. Berkeley / Shooting: 35-year-old Gary Ferguson Jr. was shot and killed Tuesday morning in a lower-income neighborhood of Berkeley, at Sacramento and Russell Streets. A friend with him was also shot and wounded. Neighbors believed the shooting was related to a drug turf war. Ferguson's father ran a drug rehab center in Berkeley for years, but his son struggled with drug addiction. [Chron]
Visitacion Valley / Robbery: On Tuesday evening, an African-American teen around age 17 tried to rob a 24-year-old man of his cellphone at Visitacion Avenue and Schwerin Street. The victim put the robber in a headlock, trying to get the phone back, but shortly thereafter an accomplice appeared (Asian, age 18) and began punching the victim until he let go of the "cellphone-stealing punk."
