Michael Mina, the eponymous restaurant from chef Michael Mina that was formerly at the Westin St. Francis (that space has now become Mina's steakhouse concept Bourbon Steak) has relocated to the former Aqua (252 California) and just reopened this week.
Bartender Carlo Splendorini created a swell, fall-themed cocktail for the opening menu called "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" that we recommend any and all cocktail fans to go try. It involves a pumpkin syrup, which you might not be likely to recreate at home, but then again... Thanksgiving is around the corner! And that's a holiday we usually enjoy being drunk for.
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
2 oz. Cognac
3/4 oz pumpkin syrup
1/2 oz lemon juice
1/2 egg white
1/2 Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur
Shake all ingredients vigorously over ice, serve up, garnished with old fashioned bitters and cloves.
