Gearing up for tomorrow’s annual Bargain Bites issue in the Chronicle, the fine folks at Inside Scoop are flashing some creamy ankle with a smattering of local celebrities' favorite cheap bites. A few notables? Paolo Lucchesi reports:

Brian Boitano, 1988 figure skating Olympic gold medalist and to iconic showtune muse: "The skating star — and host of the Food Network show 'What Would Brian Boitano Make' — has a bunch of local favorites, but two that top the list are Lemongrass Thai Cuisine on Polk Street (he gets the tom yum gai soup) and Yuet Lee on Stockton and Broadway. On the latter: “The atmosphere is stark because of the fluorescent lights. It is pretty bright, actually too bright, but the calamari is phenomenal, and it really comes out about 30 seconds after you order it.” Lemongrass: 2348 Polk St, SF, (415) 346-1818‎; Yuet Lee: 1300 Stockton St, SF, (415) 982-6020

Gavin Newsom, San Francisco sex symbol: Just about every day, the mayor gets his lunch from the Mint Cafe in the basement of the civil courthouse. Two things in particular especially appeal to him: the local businesswoman that runs it (Reem Nasraa) and the sandwich he gets — the chicken wrap, turkey sandwich or chicken club. 400 McAllister Street, in the courthouse; (415) 431-6468 or mintsf.com

Michael Tilson Thomas, San Francisco symphony director who awesomely goes by MTT: Naturally, the distinguished symphony frontman has distinguished food tastes. He likes to go to the Saturday market at the Ferry Building, and if he needs a quick fix, he’ll hit up Out the Door: 'A cup of delicious duck porridge, perhaps a green papaya salad, or the lemongrass tofu and stir-fry vegetables all offer the textures and flavor combinations that really hit the spot.' 1 Ferry Building, San Francisco; (415) 321-3740

We have to agree with MTT. The duck porridge is one of the best dishes in the Bay Area. Also, since it's located mere steps away from SFist HQ, HRD's Mongolian Beef Cheesesteak Sandwich is a favorite for cheap, tasty fare. What about you? What's your favorite place to easy, expensive grub?

Oh, also be sure to check out Thursday's Bargain Bites issue in the Chron.
