Did everyone remember to do their One City, One Book homework and read local media do-gooder Dave Eggers' latest nonfiction work? For those of you late to class, the program intends to foster conversation between fellow San Franciscans by getting everyone in town to bury their noses in the same book (Zeitoun, in this case) instead of squinting at their iPhones all the time.

Since you've had all summer to read the book, about a Syrian-American Family living in New Orleans in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, you should be well-prepared to bring plenty of questions to the SFPL's Koret Auditorium on Thursday night at 6 p.m. for the heartbreaking author's discussion with humorist and author Beth Lisick. Of course, if the assignment totally slipped your mind, you could always grill him on the state of the newspaper industry, we hear he loves to talk about that.
