The Week Ahead: Bay Area Concerts 10/5 - 10/10

Yet another packed week of shows with the previously profiled Caribou at Regency Ballroom Tuesday, the previously profiled Glass Candy at Rickshaw Stop Thursday and droney psych act Moon Duo at Amnesia Sunday.

Our featured act this week, however, is Sunset. Featuring Austin's prolific Bill Baird and a rotating cast of musicians, Sunset makes haunting lo-fi pop inline with the singer-songwriter tradition. While the band caught our attention with their shocking four full-lengths in less than three years, it is their most recent release Loveshines But The Moon Is Shining Too and accompanying single "Loveshines II" that are poised to really put them on the map -- this is a downright beautiful album, well worth the meager $5 the band is requesting per download. Sunset plays The Rumble at Cafe Du Nord Wednesday night alongside fellow Austin natives White White Lights and Dana Falconberry. The show is free with RSVP.

Plenty of other show options this week including indie elite Guided By Voices at The Warfield tonight, The Fresh & Onlys' frontman Tim Cohen at Makeout Room Wednesday and kraut-inspired locals Rangers at Hemlock Sunday -- as always, be sure to consult the full showlist.
