Yes, yes, this very likely isn't the same carsonist who kept us on our toes for much of last year (or this recent string of 12 arsons in Berkeley), but just on the off chance... Six cars were torched last night in the long-term parking lot at SFO, with a seventh damaged from the heat of the multiple blazes.

SFO spokesman Mike McCarron tells NBC Bay Area, reasonably, "It's highly unusual for a car parked in an open air lot on a cold damp night to ignite on its own," and thus this is being investigated as arson.

No injuries were reported, and San Mateo County police are investigating -- but given that there aren't any surveillance cameras trained on the area of the parking lot where the arson took place, leads are few.
