Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is coming out swinging after White House spokesman Robert Gibbs' comments yesterday about the Democratic Party's slim chances of maintaining control of the House in the November mid-terms.
Nancy said that President Obama will for damn sure be out campaigning to help Dems up for re-election this year, which include four Democratic incumbents in California. See the full list of Representatives up for election here, and all told there are five Democratic seats up for grabs in the state including one retirement, and elections could be close in several of those districts.
Interestingly, there is one Republican seat that could switch to Democratic: In the 45th district, which includes Palm Springs, Republican Mary Bono Mack is facing a challenge from Palm Springs' openly gay mayor Steve Pougnet. This district went 52% to Obama in '08. [AP/SF Gate]
