The man who allegedly shot and killed 19-year-old Stephen Powell during Gay Pride's Pink Saturday party has been identified as 20-year-old San Franciscan Ed Perkins.

"Police are unsure what, exactly, led Perkins to allegedly shoot Powell four times in the chest and also purportedly wound two other people Saturday, reports SF Weekly. "While the SFPD claims Powell and Perkins knew one another, [Sergeant Troy ] Dangerfield does not know if Perkins was familiar with his other two alleged victims."

Although we questioned the security at this year's Pink Saturday compared to years prior, we do hope the pre-Pride Parade nighttime party doesn't go the way of Halloween in the Castro.
