Thanks, tipster, for the info on the sudden firing of long-time Pride DJ, St. John, and two other well known gay morning DJs, who are apparently unnamed at the moment.

Lez Get Real reports that Clear Channel, a major sponsor of SF Pride (and arbiters of certain hate-spewing right-wingers, which isn't directly relevant), has strong-armed Pride organizers into banning the trio, who were "axed, shunned and rejected despite their years of entrenched relationship with the event."

It's likely that Clear Channel was none too happy when St. John ended his 14-year stint at Clear Channel’s Wild 94.9 and moved to CBS’s Movin’ 99.7, KMVQ-FM, reuniting with Michael Martin, former Program Director for Clear Channel, who is now Vice President of Programming for CBS RADIO San Francisco.

Lez Get Real says that Pride producers assert that Clear Channel's sponsorship enables coverage of the Parade to include "a full-length, unedited online broadcast, in addition to televised coverage the evening following the Parade’s conclusion."

Hm, sounds like Pride's soul got sold out a little bit this year.
