BP CEO Tony Hayward is in the hot seat this morning, having to answer a series of questions from Republican and Democrat lawmakers. With a soothing British accent, Hayward told the House investigations subcommittee he was "deeply sorry" for his company's horrific and deadly oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. "I understand the seriousness of the situation, the frustrations and fears that continue to be voiced," he meh'd.
When asked if he would admit full responsibility and would step down as CEO, he expertly dodged both question. The BP oil spill is considered the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history, with with tens of millions of gallons of oil spilled (and still spilling) to date.
Also, protester Diane Wilson, co-founder of the grating Codepink peace group, interrupted the hearing. Smeared with what appeared to be oil on her hands and face, she shouted, "you need to be charged with a crime!" She was promptly arrested.
