Here's how things went down last night after the returns came in. Shall we?
San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris wins. She'll get the Dem nod in the attorney general race. She creamed Silicon Valley executive Steve Kelly with much of the vote.
Gavin Newsom wins. The San Francisco Mayor beat out Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn. Newsom maintained a big lead throughout the night. He'll go up against incumbent Lt. Gov Abel Maldonado and "against Meg Whitman's credit card" in November.
Meg Whitman, who spent $71 million of her own money in this election, could very well be your next California Governor. She snatched the Republican gubernatorial nomination from Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner with ease. She'll face off with Jerry Brown for the golden throne in Sacramento.
Former Hewlett-Packard CEO and Tea Party sympathizer Carley Fiorina won the Republican U.S. Senate nomination. She'll face off against Barbara Boxer come November.
PG&E, who spent $46 million on an attempt to limit local governments to enter the electricity business, is sad this morning. Prop 16 was "narrowly" defeated.
We'll have more election updates later today.
