Please welcome Jim Meko, one of the many candidates running for District 6 Supervisor. You can find out all you need to know about Meko here (his site!), here (his Facebook page!), and here (his Twitter feed)! Meko has been an active community member in the SoMa neighborhood for eons. Yep. Also, he promised us a mid-level, 2-bedroom at One Rincon Hill if we allowed him to do Day Around the Bay! OK, not really. But we can dream. Anyway.

Have at it, Jim.

  • TransForm’s one week Car Free Challenge ends today, but I hope participants try to stay car free after seeing images of the destruction of nature in the Gulf Coast caused by BP’s oil spew. I have not owned a car for 41 years, and I get around San Francisco on a bicycle at age 61 just fine thanks to the bike lane improvement efforts of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. • Speaking of the tragic BP oil spew disaster, MoveOn.org members are holding candlelight vigils on Tuesday evening. In San Francisco, the candlelight vigil will happen in front of the Ferry Building at Embarcadero Plaza starting at 7:00 p.m. [MoveOn]
  • My friend Paul Hogarth shines a spotlight on the ethical questions spurred by San Francisco Supervisor candidates (and all elected officials, for that matter) receiving rather large donations for their June campaigns for a seat on the Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC). [Beyond Chron]
