Mireya Zapata, 12, was last seen yesterday when she went to school. Later in the day, at around 2:50 p.m.,she texted her mom saying she was on her way home. BCN (via SF Appeal) has more:

Zapata, who goes to school in the Sunset District and lives downtown, never showed up at her home, police said. The girl exchanged text messages with her mother over the next several hours, but did not text a secret code letting the mother know she was OK upon request, according to police ... At about 7 p.m., Zapata's mother received a text message reading, "Don't look for me no more," and when her mother asked why, the response read, "Just don't," police said.

Ugh. What a creepy last text -- almost as if she didn't write it. However, as an Appeal commenter pointed out, she WENT MISSING TWO YEARS AGO. Anyway.

Zapat is considered to be at risk. She is described as a light-skinned Hispanic, 5' 3", 140 pounds, brown eyes/brown hair, and last seen "wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black and white Nike shoes and had a white backpack."

Police urge anyone with information as to her whereabouts to call police at 415-553-1071.
