Like the climax of a Disney movie about animals and tolerance, a dog from an Alameda dog pound was rescued from execution on Wednesday night. See, after a Superior Court commissioner ordered the dog be put to death "because it was a dangerous animal," somebody cut through a fence and used bolt cutters to break into the Alameda Animal Shelter sometime between 4:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. yesterday and swiped "Max," a 70-pound dog.

According to reports, the pooch was "ordered to be euthanized after biting a veterinary technician in January and then a friend visiting the dog's owner in March." (See, just like a Disney movie, the vet tech and friend could have been moustache-twirling bad guys! Or Miss Hannigan! Or... something like that!) The owners appealed the execution sentence, but the appeal was denied on Tuesday.

And now? The dog is free/on the loose. But what say you, readers? Should the dog be put the sleep? Should it live free? Should it be medicated? Take our poll and let your pro-/con-canine-death-penalty voice be heard.
