A.C.T.'s latest production, which falls generally into the annual slot they seem to reserve for an English drawing room comedy or similar, is Alan Ayckbourn's 1973 play Round and Round the Garden. The play is actually one part of a trilogy, The Norman Conquests, which received a Tony- and Drama Desk-Award-winning revival on Broadway last year. Understandably, producing all three plays at A.C.T. might not have been feasible, but it's this reviewer's opinion that these plays don't stand very well on their own. While the current production is brisk, bright, and well directed by John Rando, we're left with a bit of "what's the point?" given how terrific the trio of plays might have been if performed together.
