We have another giveaway for a pair of tickets to next Thursday's MATCHA: Shanghai Jazz event. The fifth entrant to email us ([email protected]) their full name (and include MATCHA in the subject) wins! Update: CONTEST CLOSED. Congrats, L.W.!
Special guest Coco Zhao, who has been dubbed "the boy Billie Holiday," will perform an intimate set of original works and old favorites. Both of Zhao's parents were in traditional Chinese opera, which influenced his youthful interpretations, and his distinct style mixes Mandarin vocals with contemporary jazz sounds. Check out some of Coco Zhao's songs.
There will also be art activities (make your own print), cash bars, and docent conversations in the special exhibition, Shanghai. Don't miss a talk on the birth of jazz in Asia by SFJAZZ's Cory Combs.
