Get your science fair-geek on this Saturday afternoon at March Madness for the Mind, a showcase of student innovation in San Francisco that's not to be missed.

More than fifteen teams will display their state-of-the-art innovations during the exhibition at the Exploratorium. "As we know, small businesses are important to the growth of the economy: in adverse economic times, small businesses create jobs and stimulate local economies," explains National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) Executive Director Phil Weilerstein. "By putting ideas into action, these students and their enterprises are laying the foundation for a better tomorrow."

What's more, these students decided to work hard this spring break in lieu of spending the week getting wasted on bodyshots and roofies at Lake Havasu (NSFW); they deserve at least an afternoon of your time.

A few teams showing off their goods this Saturday:

  • The Polytech Waterbag, in development at the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo: "an easy-to-transport plastic bag with an integrated filter and dispensing port that can help purify and store clean drinking water following a natural disaster." (Eco awesomeness!)
