ART: Artist Xing Danwen's solo show, A Personal Diary -- China Avant-garde in 1990s tells Danwen's personal experience as a first-hand witness and participant in the avant-garde scene of 1990s China, as well as her personal involvement with the 1960s generation in China.

FILM: SFMOMA's Material and Illusion screening features artists whose work appeared at the museum between 1965 and 1980 and who were absorbed with exploring the medium of film itself. The first set of films manipulate the surface image of the film, and then the second set challenges the implied truth of what the camera records.
