Laying on Market Street "bloody and dazed" this morning, a cyclist was allegedly hit and injured by a Muni bus. What's worse, according to eyewitness accounts, the bus driver refused to stop, even after passengers begged the driver to stop.

SF Weekly
reports: "[5-Fulton passenger Mary] Chancey said around 10 bus riders implored the driver to stop following the 8:30 collision -- but he instead left the scene. When SF Weekly arrived just before 8:40, the young female cyclist was lying in the middle of the road, and police and fire soon arrived."

The driver, it seems, told his bus load that she fell by herself. Which is odd since, say, even if she did bite it on her own, he could've at least stopped to help.

Anyway, the victim was "loaded onto a gurney and taken away in an ambulance." (We can only hope she was wearing a helmet during this fateful ride.) SF MTA spokesman Judson True told SF Weekly, "Clearly this is a serious allegation, and we are investigating it now." And as of this afternoon, word is "the rear wheels of the inbound 5 Fulton ran over the woman's cycle," not her body.

Mission Mission has more pics of the accident scene.
