The Sacto Bee announced today that U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier will not to run for California attorney general. "She's going to remain in Congress where she can focus on issues that she cares about," said (our most favorite, wittiest spokesperson in politics and current Speier campaign spokesman) Nathan Ballard.

Sacto Bee goes on point out that this leaves the Democratic field wide open to San Francisco's very own District Attorney Kamala Harris; Assemblymen Alberto Torrico, Ted Lieu and Pedro Nava; Facebook's chief privacy officer, Chris Kelly; and former Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo. The gig will be vacated by incumbent Jerry Brown, who will most likely run for governor.
