Ta-da. Just a few minutes ago, Steve Jobs announced the new tablet at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco, calling it the iPad.

So far, according to KRON 4, "You unlock screen like an iPhone" and "Steve Jobs looks thin."

Update: Coming in at a half-inch thick, weighing 1.5 pounds, and having a 9.7-inch display, Macworld reports.

that the iPad in "between a smartphone and a laptop ... [with] many of the same things as the iPhone, but on a bigger, more easily viewed screen." The iPad can be "used for e-mail and Web browsing, viewing photos, managing calendars and contacts, listening to music, and viewing video." So, it's like an iPhone, only larger.
