Former supervisor Aaron Peskin used the opportunity of a hearing about favorite corporate punching bag Academy of Art University to make his first appearance at City Hall since the end of his elected term. Some of his first public words to the for-profit school, "This is an institution that has made a mockery out of any number of duly passed codes," and "Nobody else gets away with dragging their feet for the better part of the decade."
Supervisor Sophie Maxwell also got in on the fight, saying, "I've been here for 10 years, and you've been a problem since I've been here."
For their part, the Academy was very blubbery and apologetic. President Elisa Stephens promised, "We will do whatever the city wants us to," and added, "We have made a few mistakes, and we take full responsibility."
