With little fanfare and even fewer leads, the city marked its first homicide early Sunday morning. The unidentified victim was found dead of a gunshot wound on the 500 block of Naples Street in the Excelsior district, and police have not announced word any witnesses or motives in the shooting. This homicide follows four others elsewhere in the Bay Area in the first 48 hours of 2010, and comes on the heels of San Francisco celebrating its lowest murder rate in almost fifty years in 2009.
