MUSIC: Before creating her sophomore album, Ledisi vowed to let her vocals go "off the chain" on this one. Now nominated for a 2010 R&B Grammy for "Turn Me Loose," she has proven a freewheeling style suits just fine. Her New Year's Eve performance is sold out, so catch her tonight.

8 and 10 p.m. // Yoshi's San Francisco (1330 Fillmore) // $26

THEATER: Dames at Sea is the story of a small town girl who arrives in New York with dreams as bright as the marquee lights. She falls into the arms of a handsome sailor and singing, romancing and tap-dancing ensue. The 1966 off-Broadway show pokes fun at the Hollywood musicals of the 1930's. But like any good parody, it captures the uplifting essence that made its source material so popular.

8 p.m. // New Conservatory Theatre Center (25 Van Ness Ave)// $24

CLUB: Dance to indie rock and classic new wave at "Fringe," the indie music dance party. Music videos and special effects will work alongside the beats to stimulate all the senses. Sight and sound are self explanatory. Taste will be covered if you get a drink. Check off smell if you dance. Touch...we'll leave that one up to you.

9 p.m. // Madrone Lounge (500 Divisadero) // $5
