In order to decrease foot traffic into Embarcadero Station after midnight on New Year's Eve, BART trains heading to the East Bay will be skipping stops, with Pittsburg and Richmond trains making their last stop at Montgomery Station. It may turn out to be a brilliant solution, but it may just as easily turn out to be a major mistake.
Riders on the Fremont or Dublin/Pleasanton lines can still use Embarcadero Station, but not with any of those flash passes -- which BART says allowed too many people to enter the station at once. BART will be running until 3 a.m., but if you're heading to see fireworks and then heading back east, make sure to write yourself a note on your hand so that you can remember which station to walk to in your drunken stupor.
