COMEDY: Jon Lovitz is more than just the “Yeah, yeah! That’s the ticket!” guy. He also, more importantly, convinced Lisa Kudrow to quit her job as a medical researcher to become a full-time actress, without whom we would never have had The Comeback, the funniest/most disturbing TV shows of the '00s. You can thank him tonight when he brings his self-depreciating stand-up comedy to North Beach.
8 p.m. // Cobb's Comedy Club // $30.50
FILM: Director and cinematographer Ron Fricke spent five years traveling to 24 counties, documenting the interconnectedness of nature and humanity. Along his journey, he explored the meaning of the Sufi word "Baraka" which roughly translates as the breathe of life. His film Baraka plays tonight in the Haight.
7:15 and 9:30 // Red Vic Movie House // $9
MUSIC: Kill two indie rock birds with one stone tonight at The Independent. Cracker, the band known for songs like 1993's "Eurotrash Girl" plays with Camper Van Beethoven, the influential California group celebrating its 25th year.
