Former San Francisco resident Sgt. David Gutierrez, CBS 5/AP reports, "died early on Christmas Day in Kandahar from wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device went off." Gutierrez, it seems was patrolling in a town called Howz-e Madad at the time of the explosion. He leaves behind a wife and three kids.
