The Week Ahead: Bay Area Concerts 12/14-12/20

This week's concert preview is being brought to you by Kevin Meenan of Epicsauce, providing detailed concert listings for the Bay Area every week. Follow them on Twitter.

Yet another jam packed week with San Francisco's post-punk favorites Tempo No Tempo at Hemlock Tuesday, Two Gallant's frontman Adam Stephens at the Rickshaw Stop Wednesday, the previously profiled Ty Segall at The Knockout Saturday and guitar legend Charlie Hunter at both Yoshi's locations throughout the week.

Without question, however, our vote this week is for Toronto's The Rural Alberta Advantage at Bottom of the Hill on Wednesday (check out our interview with the band tomorrow). We first caught wind of the folk inspired indie trio earlier this year when Saddle Creek reissued their 2008 debut Hometowns -- it is a remarkable album, well deserving of its numerous comparisons to Neutral Milk Hotel’s 1998 classic In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. Their captivating July performance at Bottom of the Hill was easily one of our year's favorites, so the expectations are unusually high for this one. Be sure to head out early to catch rising local chillers Sonny & The Sunsets and Portland's The Shaky Hands.

Monday, December 14th
Toshio Hirano @ Amnesia (Free)
Lady Gaga, Kid Cudi Semi Precious Weapons @ Bill Graham (Sold Out)
