First the bad news -- both Thursday's Gossip / Passion Pit show at Mezzanine and Saturday's Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros / Fool's Gold appearance at Great American Music Hall are very sold out. (As are, for those pop fiends out there, both Lady Gaga shows on Sunday and next Monday at Bill Graham Auditorium.) There are still a handful of great options this week, however, with the drum heavy White Rabbits alongside uber catchy Band of Skulls and Oakland's The Lovemakers at Bimbos Wednesday, local krautrock revivalist Bronze at Eagle Tavern Thursday, the previously profiled Mi Ami at The Lab Friday and psych-infused garage rockers Sic Alps at Hemlock Sunday.
While we are admittedly bummed about the sold out shows this week, we are really looking forward to catching multi-instrumentalist Ty Segall at Cafe Du Nord Saturday. A staple of San Francsico's oft praised lo-fi garage rock scene -- see the aforementioned Sic Alps (for whom Ty occasionaly drums), rising city favorites The Fresh & Onlys and always excellent Thee Oh Sees -- Ty made quite the splash this year with Lemons, his first release since adding a dedicated bassist and drummer to his previous one-man-band live show. The album is fuzzed-out '60s pop at its best, and the live show has frequently been lauded as a must-see -- for $6, there is no reason to miss this one.
