Thursday is the final installment of this season's Matcha series at the Asian Art Museum, and the theme is Thai River Festival, a very special Loi Krathong celebration.
There will be classical dance and live ensemble music performed by the Thai Cultural Center, a rare puppet performance by the Mandalay Marionettes Theatre (from Burma), and guests are invited to create a river offering (in Thailand they're floated down waterways), learn about the mythical Thai Bird people, and sample the vibrant flavors of Burmese Tea Leaf Salad. Guests may also engage in docent conversations and stroll the galleries, including the new Emerald Cities exhibit, featuring art from 19th century Siam and Burma. There will also be a cash bar.
One pair of tickets will be awarded to the 5th entrant who emails their full name to [email protected], with Matcha in the subject heading. The winner will be notified by the end of the day.
Thursday, Oct 29, 5 to 9 p.m. // Asian Art Museum (200 Larkin St) // $10
