In case you haven't already read about this adorable Jack Russell named Trigger over at SFAppeal, here's a recap.

Last month, Trigger pulled a Houdini and escaped from his family's home, which is no surprise. Jack Russells have boundless energy, "live to outsmart their owners," and are "big dogs trapped in little dogs' bodies," the latter of which must have worked in Trigger's favor in this situation.

After going AWOL, Trigger crossed the freeway near the Orinda BART station and ended up on the tracks between Orinda and Lafayette. Eye-witness accounts speculate that Trigger was playing a game of Chicken with the trains and then got grazed by one, possibly when he ran under it. The BART operator stopped immediately, and BART police were able to wrangle him to safety.

Trigger was taken to Concord Animal Hospital, where his eye unfortunately had to be removed and he was treated for exhaustion, but his chipper attitude remained intact. We suspect he'll bounce back to outsmarting his owners in no time, but hopefully from within the safety of his own yard.
